Investigation of influence of nanoparticles on the formation of amyloid fibrils

Requirements: Bachelor (or engineering) degree in chemistry/biology or materials science, good command of English (speaking and writing). Documented experience in research projects or laboratory-related activities would be beneficial

Tasks and responsibilities: Main activities will be focused on: the preparation of amyloid fibers, preparation of noble metal nanoparticles, optical spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy (AFM) of amyloids grown with and without the presence of nanoparticles. The candidate will prepare short reports regarding the undertaken activities, learn how to critically analyze the results, and form conclusions.

Other information: We are looking for a highly motivated master student who would like to participate in interdisciplinary research that merges the field of materials science and biochemistry/molecular biology. The candidate will be tutored and work with proteins and nanomaterials fabrication and characterization.
