Polish springtime craft – pająk chandelier.

Date: 18.03.2021

Dear Student,

We would like to invite you to take part in an online workshop and prepare for yourself a simple traditional Polish springtime craft – pająk chandelier.

WHY? Old Slavic beliefs hold spiders in high respect. Once welcomed into homes, they become bearers of luck and happiness.

The literal translation of Pająki is “spiders” and, sure enough, these dainty webs (blossoming with paper flowers instead of mummified flies) closely resemble those made by spiders. Although there are many regional varieties, the general ingredients needed for construction are things that were naturally abundant in villages before Easter.
